On-the-Job-Training (OJT)

A program with hands-on training located at the job site. It involves experienced workers passing down their skills to the participant with the potential for employment.

English as a Second Language (ESL)

A program in which students learn English conversation, reading and writing skills. Students also learn about their community, US culture and citizenship.

Literacy/Adult Basic Education (ABE)

A program for students to brush-up on reading, math and/or writing skills needed to prepare for better employment or to enter postsecondary education or training. Assistance can be given to prepare for college entrance exams.

GED® Preparation

A program to prepare students to pass the official GED® exams in math, language arts, social studies and science. Classes are tailored to meet the individual needs of the students.

Customized Skills Training

A program supporting specific skills training with the potential for employment and/or promotion in high-demand, high-wage jobs.

Postsecondary Technical Education

A program providing financial support for two years of training at a South Dakota Technical Institute or University.
